A "First" from the UAA Students!
The first TEDxUskudarAmericanAcademy event was held at Huntington auditorium on Saturday, February 21st.
Organized by TEDxUAA Club which was established at the beginning of 2014-15 academic year, the event became a success in terms of its organization and the quality of speeches. The theme "Turning Point" was addressed from different perspectives by the speakers who were students and teachers of UAA as well as two guest speakers from outside the school.
Esat Uğurlu (an alumnus of Tarsus American College), young entrepreneur and founder of Globed E-Learning Solutions, compared motorcycling to entrepreneurship in his speech and stated that entrepreneurship is overstated as a means of becoming rich overnight. Being successful as an entrepreneur takes a lot of time, effort, patience, and compassion. Uğurlu said, "I am not saying that you should not start your own business, but be aware of the obstacles and risks on the road and make sure that you are really ready and equipped before you hit the road."
